A Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP) is required in accordance with the Federal Endangered Species Act (ESA) when impacts to a federally endangered or threatened species cannot be avoided and the project has no federal nexus. Krippner Consulting is currently providing consulting services and preparing a number of HCPs in Thurston County in support of various projects for commercial, residential, institutional, government agency clients. One large-scale commercial HCP has been permitted and a residential subdivision HCP is very close to being permitted. We foster productive communications with our clients and staff at USFWS that keep HCP negotiations and draft reports moving forward to the permit finish line. Due to our ongoing work on these HCPs, we have the latest HCP template and other updates from USFWS, ready to use for your project!
Wetland scientists certified by the Society of Wetland Scientists must have many years of field experience and must continue their training each year to stay certified. Linda is a Professional Wetland Scientist and has more than 19 years of experience in wetland survey and reporting. Numerous wetland surveys have been conducted for a variety of project types, from pipelines, to drainage improvements to residential subdivisions. Survey results based on solid science have always been confirmed by permit agencies. We are well versed in wetland rating and functional assessment techniques, including the latest Washington State Wetland Rating System. Well over 50 wetland reports have been prepared for permit review, ranging from brief letter reports to comprehensive reports documenting the characteristics of many wetlands affected by infrastructure projects. Our reports are clear and concise, containing just the information needed for complete project review and approval.
Environmental protection is required by Federal, State, and local regulations. Krippner Consulting provides the breadth of ecological survey, assessment, and mitigation strategies necessary to meet today’s environmental permit requirements. We understand the regulations and have provided the science background for some of them. Our clients in need of environmental permits generally include private landowners with residential or commercial development projects and public agencies with various infrastructure projects. As the environmental guide, we work closely with other experts on the project team, to ensure that both project goals and permit requirements are met. Even with project changes that nearly always occur, our long record of clear communications with clients and permit agencies still results in project success.
The application of GIS is useful to all aspects of our work. One has often heard the phrase that "a picture is worth 1000 words", and Krippner Consulting believes that extensive used of mapping and analysis can save you time and money on your reports and permits by easily transmitting our information to permit agencies. This method also helps clients by providing meaningful and accurate information at a glance. Krippner Consulting is uncommon in its integration of GIS, as the geographer also is involved with the entirety of the project from planning and field work, to analysis and mapping, as well as integration into the final product. This level of vertical integration of the technology is rare, and extremely efficient and effective. The embrace of technology with an eye for efficiency and accuracy permeates our strategy. Current technology is used in the field and office to accelerate your project.
In addition to using GIS in our workflow, we can implement it in yours as well. Krippner Consulting has developed enterprise geodatabases, provided technical training, and management of GIS programs for other companies. This effort may range from On-Call assistance to a turnkey solution that you can use to enhance your capabilities.
Starting your project with a good understanding of site opportunities and constraints is going to save you time and money. And being unaware of the presence of wetlands or special wildlife habitat or species can cause costly project delays. Krippner Consulting has performed numerous wetland delineation, vegetation and wildlife surveys for planning and permitting purposes. Working closely with our clients we provide the site analysis that they need to make early decisions on site design. Our survey results are consistently confirmed by regulatory agencies, aiding in a smooth and efficient planning and permit process.
Restoration science is still very new and is evolving quickly as more projects are constructed and monitored each year. Krippner Consulting provides mitigation and restoration designs that are firmly based on the most recent scientific findings. Research, reading, participation in conferences, and hands on monitoring are part of our routine. Our input on recent mitigation designs has resulted in very positive results such as native plant growth that is fast and vigorous and maintenance that is manageable. The mitigation and monitoring reports that we prepare are noted for their clarity by the permit authorities and our clients.
